Last weekend, my parents and I went up to Lake Okoboji. We caught the very end of a car show. Here are 2 of my favs. A Chevy Chevelle SS.
And a Plymouth Roadrunner

I also spied this Cadillac DeVille parked in the condo parking lot.

I wanna say it's a Chevy pickup, but I have no idea, I loved the paint job and the cover on the bed.

Memorial Day is a day to remember all the people who fought for our freedom from 1792 until now. Please take a moment sometime in your day and think of them, thank them for what they have done and are doing for us.

I know lots of people are all excited because they get a 3-day weekend, time to grill outside and get together because you get the day off from work and get to hang out with your family. I'd think some time in this 3 day weekend you could think about those soldiers who are fighting for your freedom, attend your city's Memorial Day parade/ceremony, go to your local cemetary and find the veteran's graves, go to your local veteran's memorial, or even just stop a moment and say a silent thank you. Do something to remember them.

The days I think about taking my camera with me, but decide against it, I see some of the sweetest/strangest looking cars. Like this one:
1970 Chevelle SS. It pulled up next to me as I was getting ready to cross the street. Could've used a little body work, there were some rusty spots, but otherwise it was a gorgeous car.

And this: Apparently it's a 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood. The one I saw was more of a bluer shade of this green. I saw it at a light and was thinking it was sitting rather low on its front tire, that's when it began to bob. Then it bobbed up (bouncing, not quite sure how to describe it, but I'm sure you've seen these types of cars before) and down a couple times, and drove off. I laughed.

I also saw my neighbor driving one of his classic cars, naturally I have no idea what it is, and when I found a picture, I wasn't able to copy it and upload it here, so you all could help me out. I'll keep looking though.

Please go out and vote today. We've been hearing about this election for over a year, there's no way you didn't know it was coming. I don't care who you vote for, just vote. The only people I don't want voting (this may come back and bite me in the ass), are the people who are only voting for someone because they are black, because they look better than the other candidate, because you're parents are voting for that candidate. If you're going to vote, make sure you have done research on the person you're voting for, make sure some of their ideals and platforms match up with your beliefs. DO NOT vote for someone because you flipped a coin and they were heads. DO the research.

So, I was watching Walker, Texas Ranger today, I used to watch this show when I was in middle school, and high school (I believe). I remember thinking it was such a good show, and it was the reason I'm into Dodge pickup trucks and Corvette Stingrays. While I was watching it today, I realized how far from realistic it is, but I still love these cars.

If you don't know what Pearl Harbor was, you suck. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, HI on December 7th, 1941. After that, the US entered World War II. (And no, I didn't have to look it up to tell you that, this next part I did, cause I didn't want to screw it up). Out of the 8 battleships in the harbor, the Arizona, was the only one that stayed at the bottom of the ocean. 2,403 American servicemen, and 68 civilians were killed during the attack. So, if you don't know your country's history (don't tell me, but) go visit Wikipedia and find out about it.

This post is dedicated to a blogger friend of mine, who seems to be down on his luck. The best kind of advice I can give you, is get away from whatever is bothering you at the moment. And then talk to someone who's been through the same thing. As you can see my best way to get away from stuff is a nice ride, now I don't know if you have a bike, but I know you have a car, and drive, at least, to get away. And maybe listen to music. That always calms me. A couple songs I recommend (obviously don't have to take my advice), Land of Confusion by Disturbed, Original Fire by Audioslave and Thousand Miles (not quite sure of this song title) by Dwight Yoakam.
I know you always have to come back after getting away, but sometimes a little away time helps. Hope you figure it out soon.

OK, so I was watching this show on TLC tonight called Wrecks to Riches and this garage wanted to take an old wreck and turn it into a sweet car in a month. So, they took a 1971 Le Manz GTO, like the orange one above, but a really crappy looking one, very rusted, very bad damage to basically the whole thing, they took everything off, ripped it down to its frame and then painted about the color of the blue pic, maybe a bit darker, they kept calling it True Blue, and then turned it into one close to the pic at the top. Now, I want to you to look very close at the bumpers of the two cars. They have 2 very different bumpers, the one on the bottom wraps around to the side and the one on the top stops at the front. I had to search for pics so you could look at the bumper. That's the thing that messed them up and set them back a couple times. Their designer tried telling the other people on the team that it was gonna be extremely hard to find that bumper and that it still may not work, and he was right, by the time he found a bumper, they already had most of the car painted as well as interior parts taken care of. But the first bumper they bought was too small, and then the second bumper didn't come with parts to mount it. But when they finished it, it was gorgeous. In the end, $47,000 was spent on it and they took it to an auction, but the highest bid was $45,000 and they wouldn't sell it for that, so they took it back home. That kinda sucked cause it was a sweet car.

Late 60's Cuda, just paint it orange and stick a 440 where that 340 is, now I could be wrong, if the 'Cuda didn't come with a 440, but I believe it was the same car

Well, I was watching a show on TLC tonight called Overhaulin' and this garage was revamping 2 Ford Mustangs, one from the early 70's, the other, a new 2005. The one from the 70's was in really bad shape, they basically made it look nice again, as well as adding some new stuff that wouldn't have been around in the 70's, mostly engine upgrades and wheel designs. The new one they pimped up a little bit more. Anyways, they were getting them ready for a car show in Las Vegas, Nevada. And, the show was showing clips of this car show, and well, I was salvitating, that's right, my mouth was watering, now what does that say about me?
